Shaheen Air International

Shaheen Air International is a Pakistani private airline based in Karachi. It operates scheduled services in the main cities of Pakistan and to the Persian Gulf countries. Its main base is Jinnah International Airport (KHI), Karachi, with a hub at Benazir Bhutto International Airport (ISB), Islamabad.

The airline was established and started operations in December 1993. It was formed as a project of the Shaheen Foundation, Pakistan Air Force. In October 1994 it was designated as the second national carrier of Pakistan and in February 1995 began international operations, with a scheduled service between Peshawar and Dubai. When the airline started it operated a fleet of leased Tupolev Tu-154 aircraft on most of its domestic flights. Shaheen Air International (SAI) was given the status of being the "second national airline of Pakistan" during the first couple of years of operation, however this status is no longer recognised.

In July 2004, the airline management was changed when it was taken over by TAWA International Inc. of Canada. The new chairman of Shaheen Air, Khalid M Sehbai has made a foreign direct investment in Shaheen Air with the objective of taking the airline back to its successful past.

Shaheen Air International is a private airline that provides passenger, cargo, and charter services. Its wings are spread to the major cities of Pakistan and Gulf by providing unmatched services to its valued customers. It was established in December 1993 and soon after its inception, on account of its professional service, exceptional performance, customer support and expertise in aviation, on October 25, 1994, it was accorded the status of 'Second National Carrier of Pakistan', by the Government of Pakistan.

Since June 2004, under the new management of TAWA International Inc. of Canada, Shaheen Air has been in a perpetual pursuit of excellence in operations and services by expanding its fleet, acquiring new routes and increasing its passenger base, with the sole objective of making it a leading customer focused regional and international airline. To be the best for customers and in the market place, the airline hires professional staff and trains them according to its corporate values.

At present, the airline is equipped with a fleet of seven self-owned Boeing 737 aircraft. Besides serving major domestic routes i.e Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar, Shaheen Air has also been operating flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Kuwait, Doha and Muscat from almost all the major international gateways of Pakistan.

Etihad Airways

Established in 2003, Etihad Airways (Arabic: الإتحاد‎, ʼal-ʻitiħād) is the flag carrier airline of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Etihad is based in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the UAE.

'‘Etihad’' (Arabic for "united", "federation" or "union") is the Arabic abbreviation for الإمارات العربية المتحدة - United Arab Emirates. It operates services to the Middle East, Europe, Indian subcontinent, North America, Far East, Africa, and Oceania. Its main base is Abu Dhabi International Airport.^[1]

In 2008, it carried more than 6 million passengers, compared with 340,000 in its first full year of operations in 2004.

History

Etihad Airways was established as the national airline of the United Arab Emirates in July 2003 by a royal decree, issued by Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan. It started with an initial paid-up capital of AED500 million. Services were launched with a ceremonial flight to Al Ain on November 5, 2003, and on November 12, 2003, Etihad started commercial operations with the launch of services to Beirut. In the months that followed, almost one new route was added per month. In 2008 Etihad carried more than 6 million passengers, compared to 4.6 million in 2007.

In June 2004 the airline flew the first direct flight from the UAE to Geneva followed by Brussels and Toronto in October 2005.

Oman Air

Oman Air SAOC (Arabic: الطيران العماني‎) is the national airline of Oman. Based in Muscat, Oman it operates scheduled domestic and international passenger services, as well as providing local air taxi and charter flights. Its main base is Muscat International Airport, Muscat.

Oman Air is a member of the Arab Air Carriers Organization.

History

The airline was established in 1981 and started operations in 1993. It was formed as the result of a merger of the former Gulf Air Light Aircraft division and Oman International Services, as Oman Aviation Services. The Omani government holds an 82.4% majority stake in the airline, while the remaining 17.6% is in the hands of other investors.^[1]

In March 2007, the Omani government recapitalised the airline, which saw the government increasing its stake in the airline from approximately 33% to 80%,^[2] It was also announced that Oman Air would be re-evaluating its strategic plans, with a possibility of entering the long-hual market^[2]. This culminated in the announcement by the government in May 2007 that it would be pulling out of Gulf Air, and would instead concentrate on developing Oman Air.^[3]

In March 2008, Oman Air announced that in June 2008, it would begin services to six cities, namely, Bangalore, Frankfurt, Kozhikode, Kuala Lumpur, Damascus and Sana'a.^[4]

Thai Airways International

Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (Thai: การบินไทย) (SET: THAI) is the national air carrier of Thailand, operating out of Suvarnabhumi Airport, and is a founding member of the Star Alliance network. It is headquartered in Bangkok.^[2] The airline operates some of the longest non-stop commercial flights, including routes from Bangkok to Los Angeles. Skytrax awarded Thai Airways International 'Worlds Best Cabin Staff and The Best Airline in the World' in 2006, while placing second in the 'Airline of the Year' category in 2007.^[3]

Thai started as Thai Airways International, a joint venture with Scandinavian Airlines System (which initially held a 30% share), along with a domestic carrier, Thai Airways Company (Thai: เดินอากาศไทย). The carrier's first flight was on May 1, 1960. On April 1, 1977, the Thai government bought out the remaining 15% of SAS-owned shares. On April 1, 1988, the two carriers merged to form the present Thai Airways International.^[4]

Turkish Airlines

It operates a network of scheduled services to 140 international and 35 domestic cities, serving a total of 155 airports, in Europe, Asia, Africa, and America. The airline's main base is at Atatürk International Airport (IST), with secondary hubs at Esenboğa International Airport (ESB), and Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW). In 2006, 2007 and 2008, THY carried 17 million, 19.7 million and 22.5 million passengers with total revenues of US$2.23, US$3.0 and US$4.5billion, respectively.^[3] The airline has around 12,000 employees. As of 1 April 2008, THY is an official member of Star Alliance.

Destinations

Turkish Airlines operates scheduled services to 34 airports in Turkey although 25 of them handle domestic flights only. Ankara is served with 106 flights per week, Izmir with nearly 100, Antalya with 65 and Adana with 55. Ten other domestic cities are served with double daily flights from Istanbul. Turkish Airlines is the leader in the domestic market together with its low-cost spin-off company AnadoluJet. The flag carrier's main rivals are Atlasjet, Onur Air, Pegasus and SunExpress.

The majority of Turkish Airlines international services are operated from Istanbul Ataturk Airport, and around 50 destinations can be reached within three hours. Turkish Airlines’ 107 international destinations are spread across nearly 70 countries. Routes across the North Atlantic serve New York City and Chicago. Major cities served in Asia include Bangkok, Beijing, Hong Kong, Mumbai, New Delhi, Osaka, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore City and Tokyo.^[4]

Qatar Airways

Qatar Airways Company Q.C.S.C. (Arabic: القطرية‎) is the flag carrier airline of Qatar, based in Doha. It operates a hub and spoke network, linking over 80 international destinations. It is among the only six airlines awarded 5-star rating by Skytrax along with Kingfisher Airlines, Cathay Pacific, Asiana Airlines, Malaysia Airlines and Singapore Airlines.

Cargo

Qatar Airways Cargo, the airlines freight branch, has ordered seven Boeing 777-F. The first Boeing 777-F will be delivered to the airline in 2009 to coincide with the opening of the New Doha International Airport, which will have freight facilities able to handle 750,000 tonnes of cargo per annum during its first development phase. The Boeing 777-F will be used primarily on Qatar Airways' Far East and European routes and will be supplemented by Airbus A300-600F freighters that operate on regional routes feeding the airline's hub. Meanwhile, a new destination, Zaragoza has been added to the cargo destination, the route is operated every Saturday using a Airbus A300-600RF, and the returning flight goes through via Dubai, increasing the capacity to the city to three times a week.^[9]

Gulf Air

The airline operates scheduled services to over 40 destinations in Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East and Far East. Its main base is Bahrain International Airport.^[1] The company's logo features a golden falcon.

The airline is not part of an airline alliance but is part of the oneworld global explorer fare. It has extensive codeshare services with other airlines and special partnerships with Jet Airways and Oman Air's Frequent Flyer Programs.

The airline is currently re-furbishing its fleet to industry standards, this includes betters seats and VOD systems.

The airline is known to spend more on aircraft maintenance than any other airline of its size.

Iran Air

Iran Air (Persian: ایران ایر) or locally known as (Persian: هواپیمائی جمهوری اسلامی ایران) is the flag carrier airline of Iran, based in Tehran and operating services to 20 scheduled and 5 charter destinations. The cargo fleet operates services to 35 international and 25 domestic destinations. Its main base is the Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport.^[1]

Its acronym, Homa (Persian: هما), is derived from two sources: the initial letters of the name in Persian: هواپیمایی ملی ایران Havapeyma'i-ye Melli-ye Iran; and from Homa, a griffin of Persian mythology.

Recent news reports by Press TV claim that the Iranian government plans to privatize Iran Air with its subsidy carrier Iran Air Tours along with the Homa Hotel Group.

Saudi Arabian Airlines

(Arabic: الخطوط الجوية العربية السعودية‎ Al-Khuṭūṭ al-Jawwiyyah al-ʿArabiyyah al-Saʿūdiyyah ) is the national airline of Saudi Arabia, based in Jeddah. It operates domestic and international scheduled flights to over 70 destinations in the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe and North America. Domestic and international charter flights are operated, mostly during Ramadan and the Hajj season. The airline's main operational base is at Jeddah-King Abdulaziz International Airport (JED). Other major hubs are Riyadh-King Khalid International Airport (RUH), and Dammam-King Fahd International Airport (DMM).

The new Dammam airport was opened for commercial use on 28 November 1999. Dhahran International Airport in use until then, has reverted back to being used as a military base. Saudi Arabian Airlines is a member of the Arab Air Carriers Organization. The airline used to be the largest carrier in the region, but because of the growth of other airports and airlines has become the second largest in 2006, behind Emirates Airline.^{[citation needed]}

Royal Brunei Airlines

Royal Brunei Airlines Sdn Bhd (Malay: Penerbangan DiRaja Brunei, Jawi: ﻓﻧﺭﺑﺎڠن ﺩﻴﺮﺍﺝ ﺑﺮﻮﻧﻲ), or RBA, is the flag carrier airline of the Sultanate of Brunei. It is wholly owned by the Government of Brunei. Its home base is the Brunei International Airport in Berakas, just to the north of the capital of Brunei, Bandar Seri Begawan.

Biman Bangladesh Airlines

Biman Bangladesh Airlines is the flag carrier of Bangladesh, with its main hub at Zia International Airport in Dhaka, the capital of the country. It also operates flights from Shah Amanat International Airport in Chittagong and earns revenue from the connecting service to Osmani International Airport in Sylhet. It provides passenger and cargo service in different international routes in Asia and Europe along with major domestic routes. It has Air Service Agreements with 42 countries, but maintains flights to only 18. Until July 2007 the airline was wholly owned and managed by the Government of Bangladesh; on 23 July 2007, it was transformed into Bangladesh's largest Public Limited Company by the Caretaker Government of Bangladesh.^[5]

Created in February 1972 Biman enjoyed an internal monopoly in the Bangladesh aviation industry until 1996.^[6] In the decades following its founding, the airline expanded both its fleet and its destinations (at its peak Biman operated flights to 29 international destinations as far away as New York – John F. Kennedy International Airport (New York City) in the west and Tokyo – Narita in the east), but suffered heavily owing to corruption and mishaps. The major reason behind the airline's huge financial loss and reputation for poor service and regular flight cancellations/delays is its ageing fleet, with some of its long-haul aircraft banned for safety reasons by the aviation authority of the US and EU countries. Annual Hajj flights, transporting non-resident Bangladeshi workers/migrants^[7] as well as Biman's subsidiaries, form an important part of the carrier's business. The rising oil price has created additional pressure on the airline, which is widely reported to have failed to meet its payment obligations to the state-owned petroleum corporation, BPC. Biman has a two-star ranking out of five by Skytrax,^[8] a United Kingdom-based consultancy. The carrier is facing competition from a number of local private airlines as well as some international carriers, which offer greater reliability and service standards, targeting the country's air transport sector which is experiencing 8% growth per annum owing to a large number of non-resident Bangladeshis.

After becoming a public limited company, Biman has trimmed the number of staff and turned its attention to modernising the fleet. Biman made a deal with US aircraft manufacturer Boeing for procurement of 10 new generation aircraft along with options/purchase rights for another 10. The carrier is in the process of leasing some aircraft for the interim period to re-start flights to some of the destinations in Asia, Europe and North America.

airblue

airblue is a private airline based in Karachi, Pakistan. It is Pakistan's second largest airline with a 20% share of the domestic market.^[2]. Airblue operates scheduled flights operating 30 daily services linking seven domestic destinations and international services to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Muscat and Manchester. It carried 1.4 million passengers on domestic flights in the 2006-07 fiscal year.^[3] Its main base is Jinnah International Airport, Karachi. Airblue makes a fuel stop at Trabzon in Turkey when flying to and from Manchester. This route is the longest route operated by an Airbus A321 aircraft in the world, and the longest scheduled route operated by an Airbus narrowbody aircraft (excluding the Airbus A319LR).^[4]

History

The airline was established in 2003 and started operations on 18 June 2004 with 3 leased Airbus A320-200 aircraft serving Karachi-Lahore and Karachi-Islamabad with three daily flights in each direction. The airline was inaugurated by the then Prime Minister of Pakistan, Shaukat Aziz.
During the first year the airline became very popular, which allowed the airline to compete directly with the flag carrier PIA and the two other private carriers. This allowed the airline to expand into more cities in Pakistan including Peshawar, Quetta and Nawabshah. On August 14, 2005 (Pakistan's 58th Independence Day) Airblue launched its first international flight from Karachi to Dubai

WestJet

WestJet is the second largest Canadian carrier behind Air Canada^[2]. WestJet is a rarity in the airline industry in that it is non-unionized. Profit-sharing is credited for this fact. WestJet plans to be one of the world's top five most profitable international airlines, by 2016.^[3]

WestJet is a public company with over 6,200 employees^[4] and 1.2 billion USD market capitalization.^[5]

TAM Airlines

The Southern Hemisphere's busiest airline (in terms of passengers enplaned and flights operated),^[2] TAM is based in São Paulo and operates scheduled services from São Paulo to destinations within Brazil, as well as international flights to Argentina, Chile, Bolivia, Uruguay, Paraguay, Peru, Venezuela, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy and Germany. The company is traded on the São Paulo Exchange (BM&F Bovespa) and New York Stock Exchange as "TAM S.A."^[3]

Qantas

Qantas Airways Limited (IPA: /ˈkwɔntəs/) (ASX:QAN) is the national airline of Australia. The name was originally "QANTAS", an acronym for "Queensland and Northern Territory Aerial Services". Nicknamed "The Flying Kangaroo", the airline is based in Sydney, with its main hub at Sydney Airport. It is Australia's largest airline and is the world's second oldest continuously operating airline (behind KLM) and the oldest in the English speaking world.^[5] Qantas is headquartered in the Qantas Centre in the Mascot suburb of the City of Botany Bay, Sydney, New South Wales.^[4]

In 2008, Qantas was voted the third best airline in the world by research consultancy firm Skytrax, up from fifth-place position in 2007 but a drop from the second-place position it held in 2005 and 2006.^[6]

South African Airways

South African Airways (SAA) is South Africa's flag carrier and largest domestic and international airline company, with hubs in Cape Town and Johannesburg. It is also known in Afrikaans as Suid-Afrikaanse Lugdiens (SAL), although this version of the name no longer appears on the airline's livery.

ExpressJet Airlines

ExpressJet Airlines, Inc. (NYSE: XJT) is a regional airline based in Houston, Texas, United States.^[1][2] Although an autonomous business entity since its divestiture from Continental Airlines, Inc., it continues to operate as Continental Express for Continental Airlines from hubs at George Bush Intercontinental Airport, Houston, Newark Liberty International Airport, Newark, New Jersey and Hopkins International Airport, Cleveland, Ohio.^[3]

ExpressJet operated its own point-to-point service with its main hub at LA/Ontario International Airport in Ontario, California. This service ended on September 2, 2008.

ExpressJet Airlines is the 14th-largest airline in terms of fleet size, operating 274 aircraft.

In April 2008, SkyWest, Inc. proposed an acquisition of ExpressJet at a price of $3.50/share. ExpressJet Holdings Inc. said its special committee unanimously rejected the proposal. SkyWest rescinded the offer in early June after ExpressJet Holdings and Continental signed a new 7-year Capacity Purchase Agreement.

SkyWest Airlines

SkyWest Airlines, Inc. is one of two airlines owned by SkyWest, Inc. - the other being Atlantic Southeast Airlines. It is a North American regional airline headquartered in St. George, Utah^[2], flying to 154 cities in 43 states, Canada, and Mexico. The airline serves as a feeder airline, operating under contract with various major carriers. It flies as United Express on behalf of United Airlines, as Delta Connection on behalf of Delta Air Lines, and as Midwest Connect on behalf of Midwest Airlines.^[3]

Combined with Atlantic Southeast Airlines, the two make up the eighth-largest airline in terms of number of planes, operating 440 regional aircraft.

The airline employs over 11,100 people and averages 1,794 daily departures across its network. Approximately 65% of flights are operated as United Express, 31% as Delta Connection, and 4% as Midwest Connect. SkyWest's largest stations in order of departures are:^[3][4][5][6]

Air China

Air China Ltd (SEHK: 0753, LSE: AIRC, SSE: 601111) (simplified Chinese: 中国国际航空公司, Pinyin: Zhōngguó Guójì Hángkōng Gōngsī, literally "China International Aviation Company", abbreviated 国航) is the People's Republic of China's state owned and second-largest commercial airline after China Southern Airlines. It is the flag carrier and the only airline in the world to fly the national flag on its entire fleet. Its logo consists of a phoenix in the form of the acronym VIP, and "Air China" in both Chinese (in the handwriting of Deng Xiaoping) and English.^[1] It operates 5,090 flights each week worldwide and is the 18th largest airline in the world by fleet size.

Air China's main hubs are Beijing Capital International Airport, Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport, with other focus cities at Hangzhou Xiaoshan International Airport, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport, Tianjin Binhai International Airport and Hohhot Baita International Airport.^[2] Out of all Asian airlines, Air China currently flies to approximately 120 destinations; the most destinations from its own Beijing hub.

The airline flew 33.97 million passengers in 2006, with a passenger load factor of 75.9%. In the same year, it made a profit of 2.7 billion yuan, with an operating revenue of 44.9 billion yuan and total expenses standing at 42.4 billion yuan.^[3]

It is the 4th largest airline in Asia, 5th largest in the world in terms of domestic cargo traffic and 17th largest airline in the world by terms of fleet size.

Air Canada

Air Canada (TSX: AC.A, TSX: AC.B) is Canada's largest airline and flag carrier. The airline, founded in 1936, provides scheduled and charter air transportation for passengers and cargo to 160 destinations worldwide. Its largest hub is Toronto Pearson International Airport in Ontario. Air Canada is the world's 8th largest passenger airline by fleet size, and the airline is a founding member of Star Alliance, an alliance of 21 member airlines formed in 1997.^[3][4] Air Canada's corporate headquarters are located in Montreal, Quebec, since its move from Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1949. The airline's parent company is the publicly traded firm ACE Aviation Holdings.

Canada's national airline originated from the Canadian federal government's 1936 creation of Trans-Canada Airlines (TCA), which began operating its first transcontinental routes in 1938. In 1965, TCA was renamed Air Canada following government approval. Following the 1980s deregulation of the Canadian airline market, the airline was privatised in 1988. In 2001, Air Canada acquired its largest rival, Canadian Airlines. In 2006, 34 million people flew with Air Canada. The following year, Air Canada celebrated its 70th anniversary.

Air Canada operates a fleet of Boeing 777, Boeing 767, and Airbus A330 wide-body jetliners on long-haul routes, and utilizes Airbus A320 family aircraft, including the A319, A320, and A321 variations and Embraer E170/E190 family aircraft on short-haul routes. The carrier's subsidiaries include Air Canada Cargo, ground support services, and regional airline partners, including Air Canada Jazz and Air Canada Jetz. Air Canada also provides vacation packages to over 90 destinations via Air Canada Vacations. Together with its regional carriers, Canada’s national carrier operates on average more than 1,500 scheduled flights a day.

FedEx Express

FedEx Express is a cargo airline based in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. It is the world's largest airline in terms of aircraft and in terms of freight tons flown. It is a subsidiary of FedEx Corporation and delivers packages and freight to more than 375 destinations in nearly every country each day.^[1]

Its headquarters are in Memphis with its global "SuperHub" located at Memphis International Airport; with regional hubs at Indianapolis International Airport, Fort Worth Alliance Airport, Oakland International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, Charles de Gaulle International Airport, Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport, Toronto Pearson International Airport, and Miami International Airport.^[2] FedEx Express has hubs under construction at Piedmont Triad International Airport^[3] and Cologne Bonn Airport.

JetBlue Airways

JetBlue Airways is an American low-cost airline owned by JetBlue Airways Corporation (NASDAQ: JBLU). The company is headquartered in the Forest Hills neighborhood of the New York City borough of Queens. Its home airport is John F. Kennedy International Airport.

In 2001, JetBlue began a focus city operation at Long Beach Airport in Long Beach, California, and another at Boston's Logan International Airport, in 2004. It also has focus city operations at Fort Lauderdale, Washington-Dulles, as well as Orlando International Airport. The airline mainly serves destinations in the United States, along with flights to the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Bermuda, and Mexico.

JetBlue also maintains a corporate office in Cottonwood Heights, Utah and a satellite office in Darien, Connecticut.^[1] JetBlue is a non-union airline.^{[citation needed]}

US Airways

US Airways, Inc., an operating unit of US Airways Group, is the fifth largest airline in the United States. A member of the Star Alliance, it has a fleet of 353 mainline jet aircraft and 319 regional jet and turbo-prop aircraft connecting 200 destinations in North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Hawaii, and Europe. As of December 2008, US Airways employs 33,765 people worldwide and operates 3,130 daily flights (1,312 US Airways Mainline, 1,818 US Airways Express as of December 2008). The airline merged with America West Airlines in 2005 and the combined airline retained the US Airways name.^[1][2][3]

US Airways operates hubs in Charlotte, Philadelphia and Phoenix. US Airways also maintains focus city operations at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, DC, McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas, LaGuardia Airport in New York, and Logan International Airport in Boston.^[4]

The airline operates the US Airways Shuttle, a US Airways brand which provides hourly service between key Northeastern markets. Regional airline service is branded as US Airways Express, operated by contract and subsidiary airline companies.

Continental Airlines

Continental Airlines, Inc. (IATA: CO, ICAO: COA, and Callsign: CONTINENTAL) (NYSE: CAL) is a United States certificated air carrier. Based in Houston, Texas, it is the fourth-largest airline in the US based on revenue passenger miles.^[4] Since 1998, Continental's marketing slogan has been "Work Hard, Fly Right."

Continental operates flights to destinations throughout the U.S., Canada, Latin America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific regions. It has more than 6,000 daily departures, serving over 151 domestic and 190 international destinations and has 85,200 employees (as of March 2007).^[5] Principal operations are from its three hubs at Newark Liberty International Airport (in Newark, New Jersey), George Bush Intercontinental Airport (in Houston, Texas), and Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (in Cleveland, Ohio). Continental Micronesia, a wholly owned subsidiary, operates routes around Micronesia from its hub at Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport on Guam and connects the Micronesian region with destinations in East Asia, Southeast Asia, Honolulu and Cairns, Australia.

Continental Airlines is a minority owner of ExpressJet Airlines, which operates under the trade name Continental Express but is a separately managed and publicly-traded company. Cape Air, Colgan Air, CommutAir, and Gulfstream International Airlines feed Continental's flights under the Continental Connection identity, as does Chautauqua Airlines under the Continental Express identity, although Continental does not have any ownership interests in these companies.

Since September 2005, Continental has been a member of the SkyTeam Alliance, in which it participates with Northwest Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Air France, Aeromexico, Alitalia and KLM; In addition to extensive code share arrangements with SkyTeam partner airlines, the airline also code-shares with Amtrak rail services to some cities in the northeastern United States, with US Helicopter which fly from Newark Liberty International Airport to Manhattan, and with SNCF French Rail to destinations in France. In January 2009, Continental announced that it will leave SkyTeam on October 24, 2009 and join Star Alliance the following day. [2]
